Line Drawing/ Fruit and Veggies
This was my first project of the year for this class and I have to say I had a lot of trouble with the composition of these fruits and veggies. I started out drawing everything in the middle of the page, but later learned that things moving in and out of the picture plane could catch the viewers eye.
Perspective/ Line Drawing
For this second drawing, we were able to choose the place that we wanted to draw. I chose to sit in Trabant and draw the perspective of the large hallway and the students coming and going from class. At first, drawing some of the figures were a little confusing because I found it difficult to draw them so quickly as they walked down the hall. But ultimately, practicing drawing them and this perspective helped me better understand perspective.
Paper Bag World
When I first heard about this fourth project, I was shocked that we had to set up a still life of paper bags and draw them. In order for it to be interesting to look at, I chose to turn most of the lights off in the room and put a direct light coming in from the left side. I also challenged myself by choosing to do the drawing on larger paper.
Tool/ Value Series
In this project, I had to start with an everyday tool and after drawing that, I had to abstract the tool and create a four series drawing. I found this a little difficult because I had never had to abstract something as simple as a tool, but ultimately I really enjoyed this project because I got to use my imagination.
Pastel Triptych
For this final project, I chose to show what I have gotten over my travels over the years. Each have similar elements, but represent different times of day and experiences while traveling. I used pastels on 22″x30″ Stonehenge paper
